It was re-released on Xbox 360, and make playable on Xbox One via Rare Replay. Both the original and its sequel garnered great critical and fan acclaim during its heyday, and is still enjoyed by fans new and old. There aren't even any NPCs or puzzles, it's all just plain platforming.ĭreamie just doesn't feel like a Banjo game at all.Banjo Kazooie is one of Rare's most famous and beloved franchises to come to light during the N64 era. And because this is Kazooie, you have to collect all the notes at once or start over from scratch. Jiggies are completely missing, because the designer decided to replace them with notes and make all the notes about as easy to find as the infamous quill under the Shovel Knight area in Yooka-Laylee. The collectible placement is pretty terrible as well, since there aren't hardly any collectibles at all. Similarly, you're expected to do a lot of tightrope walking and other things that 3D platforming just isn't good with at all, especially with Kazooie's primitive camera controls. All the molehills in the first level are placed on patches of dirt the exact same color and with a similar texture, and one of them is sitting in a random corner behind several obstacles with a fixed camera angle that keeps you from seeing it or even noticing that there's even a path behind the obstacles at all. Have to disagree on the level design and collectible placement. Yooka-Laylee, Nuts & Bolts and Tooie aren't as good as Kazooie, we only got 5 Banjo games and a single spiritual successor, what's the point of hating on the ones we got?
